Development
Introduction
The Department of Development of economic activity at Elche town council forms a part of the Area of Funding and Development, from the point of view of organization. Its functions are:
- Design and management of operations in the workplace, consultancy for business initiatives and job training.
- Writing reports and statistics on economic subjects.
- To hold secretaryship of the Pacto Local por el Empleo (Local working agreement.).
- Supporting and promoting associations and companies linked to Elche’s economic activity.
- Informing, advising, processing and managing subventions of the Public Authorities responsible for economic promotion.
- Encouraging and supporting local employment initiatives and local development activities.
- Contributing to the integration of the unemployed into the workplace.
- Carrying out professional training programmes.
The Development Department is also in charge of making new proposals and participating in European programmes. This Elche’s economy electronic bulletin has been produced by Elche city council as a part of the ADVISE project of the European initiative EQUAL. Economiaelche’s goal is to try to cover demands for information and data on current affairs in the local economy.
Economiaelche, in addition to offering a general view of the socio-economic reality of Elche, analyses the local economic situation every three months, monitores regularly the evolution of socio-economic indicators and has a newspaper-style part with news, interviews and opinion based articles together with a monographic section for treating specific topics more in depth. Finally, it has a space for providing information on activities organized by the Development Department.
